The chef and owner of 609 Market plans to open his urban market in downtown Decatur on the Fourth of July, and he already is looking toward a possible expansion.
Michael Locascio is working to open 609 Market in a former metal-working shop owned by Steve Armistead and Yogi Dougher, partners in Stogie Holdings of Nashville. The building is on the west side of Bank Street across from the Morgan County Archives.
As his heating and air conditioning contractors were hard at work, Locascio said the renovations should be complete sometime next week. They will begin stocking the market with non-perishable items when construction is finished.
